Drenched in Sweat

On the dream that wakes you up at 3am — and the small choice of what to do with it.

A bad dream is sometimes a small mercy. It shows you the shape of a fear you’d been carrying without knowing. This is from one of those nights.

I woke up last night, drenched in sweat
I had a horrible dream
All my worst fears realized: a life of regret
Everything happened at once but now I forget
I just remember how I felt, but not what it means

Was this a premonition?
Or a wake up call for healing?
To change what may have already been written
Dreams are often our mind’s fiction
A mere play of our souls’ deepest feelings

I wonder why that dream, and why now
Was it supposed to happen?
Or did I manifest it somehow?
Either way I’ll take a vow
I’ll devote myself to positivity and laughing

I’ve made it this far in life, thankfully
And if this resonates, know that you can too
A bad dream is not your reality
Just unpleasant gravity
Spin those thoughts and learn to live anew

A bad dream is not your reality — it’s just unpleasant gravity. The thing that woke you up gets to be a warning, not a sentence. What you do in the morning is the part that matters.
