Running Is My Self-Reflection

On running as practice — the one we don't always cherish, and the only one we won't always have.

Another running poem. Different angle. The one about what running is for, not just what it does.

Running is my self-reflection
A dance of willpower
A daily meditation
An end I always celebrate

To put one foot in front of the other
Not knowing where you’ll go
Is courage we seldom cherish
Even better if you take it slow

I tend to run the same path
Sometimes it’s a chore
Yet I often find things
I had never seen before

In ways, it mirrors life itself
The sacrifice, the grit, the stakes
And one day we won’t be able to
So why not run before it’s too late?

The running won’t be available forever. The body has a window. So why not run before it’s too late? — same logic for almost anything you’ve been meaning to do.
